Easy Ways to Create a Cozy Home Atmosphere
Perhaps because it is ridiculously cold outside, I’ve been wondering how to create a cozy home; I’m not sure.
But whatever it is, it’s been on my mind. I want my children to remember a cozy home.
Today, we are in another blizzard, and I swear I see the birds shivering. And I’m grateful for a quiet, cozy home.
There are times when I haven’t thought about coziness.
A year or two ago, the hall got painted. And I never got around to putting the pictures back up. It was rather bleak and uninviting. In my defense, survival was more important.
I put the pictures back on the wall a couple of days ago. And I was surprised at how much it changed the house’s feel.
Perhaps that’s what sparked this need for coziness.
However, no matter the reason, I thought I would share my easy steps for a cozy experience.
Lighting.
A beautifully placed lamp can significantly enhance a home’s ambiance.
The power of smells.
A home that smells great is terrific!
This can be a little tricky some days. A lot is happening here, and not all of it smells great. I use a simple wax melt warmer. They stay on, and I replace the wax cube every few days.

Good food!
Put on some soup or make some banana bread! Fresh popcorn for game night! Your options are endless, but a home-cooked treat is always a great choice!
Run the dryer and the dishwasher.
I may be crazy, but I love the sound of dryers and dishwashers running.
Maybe it’s because I’ve accomplished something, but there’s something comforting and reassuring about hearing the quiet hum of the dishwasher and the thump-thump of the dryer.
This is simple but creates a feeling of warmth in the home.

Hot drinks!
My go-to is coffee with cream. However, if you prefer not to use that, you may want to try this Russian Tea Recipe instead.
This recipe comes in various variations, but this is the one that works best for me.

Hot tea is another favorite.
You cannot go wrong with something warm to drink. Especially in winter!
The fireplace. Or rather, the fake fireplace.
Sadly, I don’t have a fireplace. So, as sad as it is, I play this fake one on the TV if I need to feel extra cozy.
These are simple steps to making a cozy home. You may need to experiment to find what works best for you, but pursuing a comfortable home is worth the extra effort.
